8 Visit: Sepultura de Fca.Paula García Díaz de Morales
Francisca de Paula García Díaz Morales was the wife of the engineer Carlos Quero Goldoni, and according to the custom of the times, appears as on the pedestal as Garcia de Quero. Paula Garcia was a woman who, like many women of her time belonging to the wealthy classes, practiced in charity, being part of the Cordoba Board of Protective Ladies Foundling House and Hospice and Tuberculosis Board. She died young. She was the sister of the Countess of Casa- Padilla. Faced with the heavy religious symbolism present in many niches and mausoleums, the figure shows a young woman in an attitude of suffering and neglect. The woman is shown turned on herself and on her knees, one hand holding her face, which expresses a quiet sadness, the other hand holds a crown, which seems to be a rose. The attitude of regret and abandonment is also reflected in the hand, with only two fingers holding the crown , without pressure, in a gentle way. The figure is constructed of marble from Carrara. This sculpture is impressive both for its design and size.
